The Mornings Of & After

Last night was a horror show.  I'm not going to sugar coat anything, so please understand that what I blog may be a tad intense during the next couple of days.  I started taking Magnesium Citrate at 7pm, as directed.  At around 8pm, I started experiencing bubbly guts and made my way to the bathroom.  Poops came, but something felt wrong.  I was really nauseous.  I had forgotten that because I am so small, having more than my usual amount of fluids in my belly might not be the most comfy thing.   I started vomiting at that point and continued to do so every 1-3 hours after that through the night, along with moving of some bowels.  Bummer.

Let me stress that I am also having an Upper Endoscopy done today, because I have been vomiting for the last few weeks, something that is NOT usually present in my normal Crohn's flares [If you are having a flare of probably just your colon, this vomiting business most likely will NOT happen to you, though you can never rule anything out].  I called the On-Call GI Dr. at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and he instructed me to take in fluids as I could during the night and told me that if in the morning I am still having this issue, to call again and let Dr. Flier know.  I received a call when I woke up to come in one hour early for my procedure, because there was a cancellation this morning.  I was really happy to hear that-- getting this over with an hour early?  Yes, please.

Dr. Flier gave me a call herself after I had agreed to come in early and we talked about how much of the Magnesium Citrate I had taken in.  It may not have been enough to totally clean out my colon enough for the scope.  We decided that today I will have the Upper Endoscopy and she will TRY the Colonoscopy, to see how much of my ulcerated colon is visible.  She will ake the necessary biopsies, too.  If we cannot see enough of what we need to, we will have to reschedule.  I do admire that my Doc wants to try and see how much we can get done today.  She's pretty awesome, and even if I was bumped back to my later procedure, I can't drink anymore until I go in.  It will compromise the entire deal.

Meh.  I go in at 1pm.  We'll see how this goes.

Did I mention that I had two amazing fellas by my side all night?  I wasn't the only one losing sleep.
