This year's 'Take Steps, Be Heard' walk for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, thrown by the CCFA was awesome!
A gang of my dearest pals came along on this fundraising excursion that I had been blasting all over Facebook and Twitter for months now.
We started at one end of the Boston Common, and lapped it twice, totaling 2 miles!
Such a great turnout! Here's the start, we were so amped!
I was happy to see so many families walking, you could tell that a lot of children affected by Crohn's or UC had loved ones who were very involved.
Arthritis is a complication of Crohn's, and mine reared it's fugly held just days before the walk, so I wrapped my ankles accordingly, and limped my booty to the end.
...Not to mention, I was instantly comforted by one of my unconditional supporters.
Cosmo made a lot of people smile that day!
And so did my budding relaish.
[Yes, I'm writing about it!]
It was such a beautiful day, and downtown Boston surrounding the park made for great views and that small-city feel that I'd find no where else.
I love Boston.
And my amazing Support System.
And people who donated to our cause!
[Thank You cards to follow!]
And even though I threw myself over the finish line in last place, after the finish sign was TAKEN DOWN, I felt as if I had come in first. Because taking the initiative to get myself around that path was brought on not only by incredible support, but by my strength in knowing that my fight is precious. For a reason. And that reason is to show other people with these disease that they can battle it with smiles on their faces, too.
Next year, we'll double our goal. Until then, I'll continue to spread the word about this particular fundraising event- which is still going on- that you can make tax deductible donations to!
