Hello, Friends...
After a brief hiatus from blogging, I am returning to report on new life happenings. Things have been quite hectic for me and the pup. We moved into a new home, tapered to a lower steroid dosage, and participated in some way cool events!
On a less exciting note, on Saturday afternoon as I hiked down some rocks, I broke my arm. It is painful, but not nearly as much as I thought it would be. I know what you may be thinking- and I keep thinking it myself- 'How does a 27 year old woman fall off a rock and break her arm? Shouldn't there be a little more resilience?'. Because of my recent months on Prednisone, my bones have become a bit brittle. I do take Calcium supplements everyday, but being on a Corticosteroid can deplete up to 20%- 30% of the calcium in your body. Staying up on your supplements is extremely important when you're taking these medications. So, for the next 3 months, and maybe longer because of the lingering steroids as I taper, I will be wearing a strange cuff around my neck to hold my right arm up.

The bone damaged was the humerus, cracked almost all the way through, just below its head. To use a cast will only push the rest of the bone into the head and healing will be incorrect. My Orthopedic specialist explained that gravity is my pal, and that by letting my arm hang at my side [and having my wrist up at my neck], the broken portions will regain their stickiness and reattach themselves without surgery. I will post my x-ray soon.
Our new place is awesome!! A cozy, one bedroom spot in a turn of the century house in Cambridge was just the perfect choice. It's sunny, has large rooms, and is full of shiny new opportunities for lovely memories. Cosmo loves the sunshine through the windows, and my home office fills me with tremendous warmth. We cooked out first meal together last night before Steve's trip to Vietnam to visit our dear friends who are on a backpacking journey around the World! In case I haven't given enough promotion, which I haven't... our film project is underway! Paper Fortress and friends are beginning the amazing journey that is the feature film production process! We Are Friends is a film about a group of friends who discover their inner-strength and character through a series of incredible and life-changing events. We will be acting, producing, and directing this project for the winter months and are asking for support from our buds. Please visit these links to learn more about this awesome adventure!
Checking in with you is important to me, and I will post more as I can... there are lots of photos and more Crohn's deets I'd like to share! Have a great Tuesday!!
