Scaredy Brat

When your body is concerned, doing what you should for it just shouldn't be a question.

Who likes cake? I do. Cookies? Sign me up. And hot damn, do I have a weakness for anything packaged in a Hostess wrapper. Does that mean that it's okay for me to shove them in my face? Nope. The same goes for the rest of you. Don't think that because you don't have a digestive disease, that it's super cool to go flaunting it all over town with your awesome junk food. We trust in our medical communities to take care of us when we're sick, right? When we're sick. Letting it get that far might be something that you can help. Put down that frigging potato chip and listen to some cool ish I found on the internets.

Is Cookie Dough your faaaavorite??
What you see above is NOT cookie dough. Tastes like it, though. This dip was actually made from chickpeas! There are blogs all over the web that show you how to eat well, while fooling your stubborn guts into thinking that you're gorging on crap. You junk food junkies. The girl who recently showcased this is one of my kitchen heroes.

Guess what I made the other night. Go on.

Kale chips.
If you wanna get in on the Raw Food Movement, see Rawmazing. Holy Yum.

I only ate a few because I had to see how they'd fair for me, but they were delicious!! A fantastic  crunchy alternative to Lays. You get the crunch, teeny bit of flavor from the Sea Salt, and you're actually giving your insides some love. I was also pretty happy to discover that they were simple to make, and they laaaast.

But recently, I've been more and more excited about trying to create new things that won't exacerbate my Crohn's flare.

Seriously, guys. Eating well doesn't mean that everything has to taste like boiled cabbage. I mean, unless you want it to. Don't be afraid to try new things! No one wants to give up their favorites. I know that. But making an attempt to eat better will pay off- I promise. I haven't graduated to more complex recipes yet because I'm still healing, and going nuts is probably the most awful idea that I can come up with. Right now, rice and veggies are doing my tum well.

That doesn't mean I wouldn't still kill for a chili cheese dog. Hey, nobody's perfect.
What have you eaten today?

Flutter Moment

My Mom is the best.
She's strong, funny, independent, a blast to be around, and knows her stuff about how to be a wonderful person.  She's in an amazing new phase in her life, and I'm super proud.  I don't pay enough attention to the force that she is, and I am beyond grateful to know her, let alone be made up of some of her genes [even if she is way more tan than I am].

I miss you, Ma.  Thanks for inspiring me so much.  I'll be home as soon as I can.
Do you think you could have some grub waiting, and maybe an empty washer/dryer?
